Lip Prints

 

Lipstick left at the scene of the crime on glasses is another piece of evidence. The study of lip prints is - cheiloscopy. Lip prints are unique and do not change during a person’s life. The credibility of lip prints has not yet been establish in the courts.

MATERIALS:

     lipstick in dark colors
     white paper
     pen or pencil
     crime scene cup with lipstick print (napkin, tissue, piece of cloth)

Advanced Preparation:

1. Make a lip prints for each of the suspects.
2. Put lipstick on both of your lips and rub your lips together to spread the lipstick
    evenly.
3. Fold the white paper in half.
4. Place the folded piece of paper between your lips and press you lips against it. Be
    careful not to slide you lips or you will smudge the print.
5. Remove the paper and label the print with the ID numbers of one of the
    suspects.

Crime Scene Solution:
     Each group will compare a copy of the lipstick print left on the cup at the crime scene with the lip prints from the suspects.
