Persona Users

Philemon chooses certain humans to receive the ability to use Personae. To encounter Philemon, one must have performed the Persona ritual, and also must have the innate ability to use Personae.

Persona users can summon Personae of higher level as they grow stronger. Since Personae are echoes of the Persona user's spirit, each Persona is distinct from other Persona users'.

Persona users come from various locations, but there are unusually high numbers of Persona users who come from Mikage Town and Sumaru City. It appears that this is because both areas have been greatly influenced by odd events. On these occasions, Philemon's belief in human potential led him to bestow the gift of Personae on able humans who managed with this to save their town.

Persona Users in Innocent Sin

As children, Tatsuya, Lisa, Eikichi and Jun were taught the Persona ritual by Maya, a junior high student. In junior high school Eikichi learned to summon his Persona, and Tatsuya and Lisa used Personae for the first time as high school students in order to avert crisis.

Brown suggested to the St. Hermelin students that they perform the Persona ritual, and through this they gained the ability to use Personae. Furthermore, Kandori's Persona is Philemon's polar opposite, Nyarlathotep, who has apparently bestowed some of his power on Kandori.
